A victory much appreciated

I walked through the door of my economics classroom this morning just as the exam made its way into the hands of the 100+ students. I found an open seat at the very back; pulled out my calculator, pencil, and eraser; and went to work. This evening, the results came into my email inbox and showed that I scored a 97%, ranking third out of 148 students who took the test.

I expected to do well, but I struggled with maybe four or five problems out of 33. Fortunately, only one of those problems ended up being wrong, so I came away with an A! Karen and I are very happy about this. This marks another success I needed in a semester that is proving rather a challenge.

UPDATE: The curve on the exam brought my grade to 100%!

  1. Wow, sounds like a real struggle. I hope that you will be able to study harder so that the curve will bring your grade above 100%. Maybe I should stop expecting pats on the back for just showing up. But I find that if I set the bar really low than I always exceed expectation.

    1. Really, my goal is to be the guy of whom the hardworking student says, "I studied really hard and it's making sense, but some jerk scored higher than everyone else and caused the curve to be unfairly small."
