Another thing you just never say to your professor

Studying for my first business law exam took up most of my morning and afternoon yesterday and today. I read through all of the lecture notes at least twice and then created 122 flashcards on my computer. I went through most of the flashcards, found that I knew them pretty well, and then headed to the business building to take the test.

I entered the classroom, sat down at my desk, looked at Jake (my professor), and said, “If I don’t get an A on this exam, it’s on you. Because I have studied for about eight or nine hours and created 122 flashcards and I know this material. Assuming the test is based on what you told us to study.”

Sometimes things come out of my mouth and then I never hear from them again. I sat there, abandoned by a stupid comment to my teacher, while he sat there amused.

A few hours later, after I returned home, I found this in my inbox:

Congratulations! Your study paid off, or maybe the law does come naturally to you despite your thinking otherwise. You scored the second highest in the class (98%).

I told Jake several times that I was worried about the exam because learning law is hard for me, that I have a hard time understanding all the pieces and how everything fits together, that it’s all just a bunch of memorization for me. But everything worked out today in an amazing way.

So...memorized it is!
