Everyone has bad days

Karen sent me this text while I was on campus, sometime around my last class:
Tyler. The richie is having a really hard day. And so am I.
She only says this if her day is really bad, so I knew I needed to swoop in with the dad chopper when I returned home. Which is exactly what I did. Maybe Rich needed a change in pace, or maybe he just really needed his dad today, because he calmed down as soon as I walked through the front door. He let me hold him and he didn’t whine, and I brought him up to my office to work with me for a little while. It wasn’t too long before he became fussy, and then he was in full crying mode, at which point I swaddled him because I knew he needed sleep. As soon as I picked him up in his swaddle-me, the crying rapidly dwindled and he closed his eyes and fell asleep. Needed his dad? Maybe it was just one of those days. I know the feeling.

  1. This one made me cry. Your Dad use to do the very same thing for you. Not swaddle, since we didn't know about that, but he was your comfort.

    1. He did? Then I guess I know where Rich gets it.

He also immediately calms down when he sits on my shoulders.
