Economics? Check. McDonald's? Chuck.

It’s been a crazy couple of days. Karen threw up two nights ago, and then I threw up last night.

We didn’t know what it was, but at first we figured it might have been the Honduran sour cream since Karen is the only one who had any of it two days ago. But both of us getting sick?

I woke up yesterday morning after about five and a half hours of sleep so that I could take my first economics exam. I scored 100 out of 100 points, ranking me #2 out of 145 students. (I guess someone scored 103 points.) Great cause to rejoice, right?

Naturally, Karen didn’t feel like making anything for dinner (because she was sick; see above), so Rich and I used some McDonald’s coupons and got ourselves a cheap meal. (Yes, we are helpless without Karen.) After dinner, though, the same thing happened to me that happened to Karen after dinner the night before. I started feeling sick to my stomach and I couldn’t walk around very well without feeling like I needed to displace my food. Rich and I even went on a walk to get some fresh air—which surprisingly made me feel better—but ultimately I couldn’t keep my stomach in check.

It was time for Rich’s bath, so we got him ready. But because I was going on so little sleep and feeing so sick to my stomach, I lied down on the bed to get my stomach to settle down.

Sometime later, I woke up. Karen put Rich to bed on her own and I slept through it all. I felt somewhat better, so I thought, “Yeah, maybe it was just a lack of sleep.”

Maybe an hour (or less) later, I went to bed, my stomach feeling uneasy again. And not too long after that, I was up. And so were the contents of my stomach.

Anyway, long story short. I must have been exposed to the same sickness-inducing whatever to which Karen was exposed, but by some miracle I took my econ exam and aced it just hours before coming down with anything. Awesome? Completely.

By the way, I don’t recommend food poisoning. We think that’s what it was. It sure beats the stomach flu, though, because I’m feeling a million times better after 15 hours of sleep.

  1. You know, I didn't even think about that. It IS a blessing that you were able to take your exam before getting sick. Awesome!

    1. To me, it's amazing that I pulled out with such a good grade given I was going on so little sleep and was infected with something deadly.
