My first semester of teaching came to a close today. I administered the business statistics exam to a portion of the class at 1:30 pm, which meant being on campus by about 1:10 to get everything ready. When it was over, we all met up in the Animal Science building and headed on over to Jenny's house to do the grading. (Jenny is one of the other recitation leaders.) From about 4:00 to 10:00, we graded the entire exam, each of us taking a problem or two so that we could specialize and save time. Jenny provided pizza, I brought soda, and we generally enjoyed ourselves. Actually, when Jenny dropped us off at the end of the night, Vahan (another recitation leader) said, "Thanks, Jenny. I actually had a great time." We joked and laughed a lot tonight. It flew by in a way, but it really feels good to be done with yet another class this semester.
And of course I was so very happy to see my family when I got home, even though I didn't get to see Rich before he went down for bed.

A compliment from a friend
Vahan Petrosyan, one of Dave’s recitation leaders and a good friend of mine, paid me a great compliment today. I crossed paths with him and his girlfriend Ying in the engineering building today. The first thing he said had to do with Exam P.
VAHAN: How did you do?
ME: I passed!
Vahan smiled and gave me a high five.
VAHAN: That’s great!
ME: Yeah!
I hadn’t talked with Ying before.
YING: I do the review sessions for your probability class.
ME: Oh, yeah. I don’t think I’ve ever been to one of those.
VAHAN: Well you obviously don’t need it.
YING: Vahan told me that there was a super smart guy in that class.
ME: Thanks, Vahan!
I love compliments. I should give them more often, because they feel so good. Vahan has passed the first two actuarial exams, as has Ying, so they are both geniuses. Very cool.
